Terms of sale

A dated, sourced brief for one US geography and one household profile, assembled from the public data this site publishes, with a per-figure provenance table and a list of what it does not support. It is delivered as a PDF and the underlying monthly series as CSV. A complete example is the sample brief; your brief is the same document for your configuration.

You are paying for the assembly, not for access. Every figure in a brief is free to look up on basketindex.org. The figures are modelled estimates, labelled as such in the brief — not measured household spending, not a living wage, and not financial, legal or tax advice.

$149 for one geography, plus $99 for each additional geography compared on the same order (up to 3). Prices are in US dollars. Payment is taken by Stripe on its own checkout page; your card details never reach Basket Index. Stripe emails your receipt.

We build your brief and email it to the address you gave Stripe within two business days of payment. Early briefs are checked by a person before they are sent.

If the brief cannot answer your question honestly — the data does not reach your geography, or the figure you need is one we do not publish — we will tell you and refund you in full rather than send something that will not hold up. If something is wrong with a brief we sent, reply to your receipt and we will correct it or refund you.
